Jay Chow vs LeeHom? I Think..

"Jay Chow and LeeHom, the most famous superstar cum singer cum copmoser in chinese music, who is better?" someone asked me. And naturally, there is no answer for this!

Let's talk about music. Ignoring what's their paper and certs, education, etc, both of them shows equal talent on music.

When Jay first pop out from nowhere, his music is mainly on funk and rap genre, which is quite similar to the Western music. Yet, from his second album onwards, his music is damn creative, i will say, the whole experience of the song is like.. 'watching a movie'!!! It's because a lot of his composing is made up by great varieties of harmonic style, which was mainly used in classical music. Next thing, don't know up until which album (sorry for that!! lol), he convert again, to the romance classical style, aka 'the Chopin style'+'Chinese Tradition'. Impressed. At least no composer in chinese music ever did that in pop music. And it sounds great! LOL, in fact, his one is already not a typical pop music, it's his music.. Jay Chow's music.

And it's very different form the western music as well.
it doesn't require much instrument skills and technique, yet it sounds nice and harmony, and most importantly, cool and trendy aka 'classical music which is trendy'! But one drawback. The recent album sounds like.. a repitition of another album??

LeeHom? Ya, no doubt he is as good. Every album having new idea'ssss'. Every idea is genuine. People tends to copy his stuff, because it's special. His main composing style is to combine chinese music with the Western 'black' music (which i like more), and quite good his job. And his composing, I'd never heard before (such as the mongolian, chinked out etc)! And it's 'LeeHom's style'...

If compared, Jay improvises white music and blend in rap and chinese music. LeeHom improvises black music and blend in chinese music and some classical composing technique also.

So, there is no winner or loser. One same objective there did: To introduce the Chinese Music to the world!

LOL, but a lot of people don't know how to appreciate their work, and their efforts. Usually those songs which is composed with great skills and effort are those that public dislike the most.LOL

Anyway, Jay and LeeHom, continue your work ! U guys did great music!

I like most Jay music. He is cool, multi talented. no wonder so many gals like him like mad!! no singer in chinese history so far, possess his type of multi talent and stage holding. he play chi ling, bruce lee stick, magic and etc..

but his voice is ayam! too thin and clearly, meant to cheat young gals only, innocent gal only. fetish!I despise his voice, although at times,I also sing like him, ai ya, just follow the trend lah..you want good voice? just listen to billy joey, and elton john, haha top voice!powerful and mature

I like some of leek hong music and song. he brought up in america, learn so much of black music, of cos he portray different and more international music , in contrast to jay. but lek hong strength also his weakness, he a bit distant from asia ear, we dun really know well to appreciate. and when come to classic creation, and receive best response from fans, jay is definitely overshadow lek hong..

any way , lek hong voice also ayam voice, soft and thin, any time I got better voice and sing better than both of them... haha!

you want to know what good voice is? check with elton john and billy joey again.last time, 20 years ago, ah lam of hong kong, also got top voice, powerful and versatile, but now he become old man, voice koyak, but also want to appear and sing, real sucks!!!he better retire la...He lost the vigor in his voice, boh lak liao!!!

lek hong type singing, also meant to cheat young gals only, ayam voice!! just listen to juliet, so suck!! If I were his producer, I will sack him.. haha, his fan will kill me!!!

ANYway, malaysia, lin yu zhong, also another freak, imitate both their voice, sing like ayam, want to cheat innocent gal. I will beat him, lin yu zhong, when I meet him. you listen to him b4? ayam voice? agree?soft and thin, try to be cute!!!

Somebody in here uses two names to do comments.. *ahemm!*

Well, back to "Jay Chou vs leeHom". To me, in terms of talent, we hv to compare 'apple to apple', so since their style is not totally the same, we cant really do a fair comparison. But undeniably, both are really good, with the aim to introduce/popularize chinese music to the world.

In terms of technique (singing technique), Leehom is much more better than Jay. (FYI:I am a fan for both.)Leehom's voice is clear,清新,有气质,震撼, 独树一格 (Thats the comment of the Golden Melody Award's judges). Therefore in terms of voice quality, singing technique and stage power, Leehom is stronger.

One thing i agree with u is that really, not many understand their music well. Most consumers do not or maybe they dont know how to appreciate their music-it brings more than just an enjoyment or a 'trend'. It contains deeper meaning than what the majority consumers can understand...

ha ha, the haleluya like so much leek hom, surely, I believe, he or she must be young gal, so being cheated by leek hom!!! if leek hom is not handsome, she must reject him and reject his voice too...

I suggest young ppl below 25 years old, pls try listen to some veteren singer of the 80's and 90's, then only evaluate their voice

. anyway, I listen to both generation of singers, thats why I think I am qualify to say that both lek hom and jay chou, sing like ayam voice... yu want so called 震撼力, 聽聽大陸的孫楠!yu baru tahu!!!
